Today was the first day running barefoot on asphalt. It is suggested you start with 5 minutes. They are so fricken right! Huge difference between asphalt and concrete. There was no way I could run on the asphalt barefoot. But I did walk. I actually walked 7 minutes. It took the extra two minutes to get to my shoes. (LOL) Put on my shoes and started the 5K training.
The temp gauge says it is 72 degrees at 8:00 A.M. It feels like 98. No humidity but I don't break out in a sweat like that in cooler temps. The head started thudding and I cut the training out and went back home. I know I'm a wimp. I'll try to schedule it in again later today with the tredmill, air conditioning, and a fan.

Sexy women
Times may have changed, but one thing has not. Men think women in an apron are SEXY. It's all how you work it.

I DID NOT KNOW THAT ABOUIT SEFL CLEANING OVENS.
I learned something new today about ovens. Like the broiler is on the top shelf of the self cleaning ovens. It's not in a drawer and IT'S AFFORDABLE!! Woo Hoo! I don't have to spend $1500 for the stove I want. Now the question is, do I buy a new stove or do I buy an Ipad?
The lady at Home Depot who was telling me about the stoves voted for the Ipad. (lol)
I gotta say that if someone gave me an Ipad, I would be happy to take it, but I just don't want to spend the money for it. I could purchase new kitchen counters, a new stove, update my sink. I could even buy a new computer. Nope, no Ipad for me.
I'm trying a new dog food recipe today. I am cooking a whole chicken in the pressure cooker. E-how website said the chicken should cook a couple of hours to soften the bones. I watched a you tube video where the woman said to cook it several hours. I'll let you know how it turns out. Right now it's just three cups of water, the chicken, some extra giblets and I'm waiting for the rocker to start rockin.
UPDATE ON THE CHICKEN: Can we say awesome? Two hours in the pressure cooker. The drumstick bone crumbled in my hand. I even ate the bone. It taste better than chalk. The awesome part is that I can feed this to the dogs and they get the benefit of the calcium and the bone marrow. Yum all the way around for them.

Day 2 & 3 5K training
My knee totally burned after day 1 training. It's been a year and a half since I injured my leg. There is a definite divot in my leg that hadn't been there before the injury. Still nothing to be done about it.
Day 2 no burning, but calves sore in the back as they should be. Training included increase in run time.
Day 3 Legs feel pretty good, but it is Saturday and that means a lot of walking and grocery shopping and chores. It's also 103 degrees. No training today.

Day 1 5k training BAREFOOT RUNNING
Looks like this is the year for me to run my first 5k. Stephanie asked me to and how could I say no? I could walk but what's the challenge in that?
So training began today. I will say that I cannot get up at 5 in the morning when I have been up at 2:30, 3:00, & 4:00. Five o'clock just isn't going to happen.
Yep! Barefoot running. It just clicked in my brain the first time I heard about it. Let's be real about this. Barefoot running brings out the inner child. I'm not passing that up.
A lot of talk about barefoot running prevents injury. I do know that I have tripped on my shoes in the past, but don't recall tripping over my own barefeet except when going up a step.
I did my 20 minute morning workout on smooth cool concrete today. It is suggested that you start with just five mnutes barefoot and slowly increase your time to toughen up the soles of your feet.
Not that I have that kind of patience. It is hot enough that I will go barefoot as much as possible. Not outside though. I'm not that stupid. 100 degrees outside would burn my feet. No thanks... Except those few seconds when I exit the car & sprint to the shade/house screaming ow! Ow!

Vampires Suck
Oh my gosh! I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard. Vampires suck is a parody of the Twilight movie releasing August 18th. I am so there.
