Have you seen the trailers for Vampire Sucks?
Yes, it is hysterical. However, the movie is another story. I'm thinking half of the trailer ended up on the cutting room floor. So much of the trailer is NOT in the film. That was annoying and not so funny.
The actress who plays Bella had her down to an annoying perfection. The guy who played Jacob. Wow! He should have played Jacob for real. He was a hunk. Guy who plays Edward was non descript but then so is the original.
Would I see it again? Oh yeah I would. Simply for the ending which I did not expect and I loved. I'm also hoping that maybe Redlands theater will have a fuller version than the theater in Oregon.

Sisters
Twenty four hours from now I should find my self landing at the airport in Oregon. Have I mentioned before how I hate to fly but a two hour flight versus an 18 hour drive, well there is just no argument. I can't believe that two years have already passed since I saw my sister last. So much has changed and yet so much has not changed. No matter how old we get, we will always remain close and perhaps childlike.

More zombie addiction
I was quite young when I saw Night of the Ling Dead. Zombies were the one monster that scared the beejebbies out of me for decades. I wanted to scream every time we drove in the fog because I knew that's when the zombies jump out to get you.
Then the movie Resident Evil came out on DVD. I admit that I had to fast forward through it but with constant viewing I was able to grow numb to the zombie fearfest.
The game Resident Evil 4 was fantastic. A simple pleasure of shooting off zombie heads and who can resist those dancing zombies in the game Plants Vs Zombies. Lots and lots of zombies losing their heads. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
The newest game I'm playing is Zombie Infection. The nightmares should start again soon. These zombies are not cute. No dancing and no happy music. Just sick sadistic zombies.
I can't wait for the next Resident Evil installment. Alice always hits her targets. She's my hero.

Home made dog food
I thought I had posted this before but I couldn't find it so here it is. I was watching a You-Tube video where a woman was using a pressure cooker to cook a full chicken bones and all to feed the dog. Now we all know that cooked bones are a big no no for dogs due to sharpness and splintering. She said to cook for several hours. Several hours? What the heck is several hours? Turns out several hours means two hours.
You fill the pressure cooker with water to the fill line and pop in the whole chicken. You don't want to overfill the pressure cooker. Get that little doo dad rockin and then cook for two hours. Remove from heat and let cool for it to release the lid.
The chicken is perfect. The bones are completely soft. Even YOU can eat them. No worry about the bones hurting your dog. You can crush the bones using your fingertips. The good news is your dog gets the calcium and nutrients from the bones and marrow. Yet none of the negative.
Some people wonder why you would go to the trouble of cooking when you can just give it to them raw. In my case it is because some dogs won't chew the bones. My dog in particular will swallow them whole. She then will vomit it back up. Not a good thing.
How much to cook? It is suppose to be 40 % protein, 40% vegetable, 20% grain.
I cook two whole chickens, two bags of frozen vegetables (carrots or peas & carrots) and two loaves of bread.
Cook the chicken In pressure cooker two hours. Cook the frozen vegetable. Cube the two loaves of bread.
I purée the cooked vegetables.
I break up and crush the cooled cooked chicken and then mix everything together.
I feed up to two cups per serving twice a day.
Good in the fridge up to three days. Freeze the rest. This recipe is enough for one week and for one 40 Lb dog.
You could serve less but I am trying to put weight on this particular dog.

Chocolate Mousse Recipe
The mousse has set for a while. It is yumm but has a definite coco taste. For me, it is a bit to coco but I like it. I think it is a little like getting use to dark chocolate when you are use to milk chocolate. I think after the first time you make it, you can figure out how to adjust the amount of chocolate you use. The secret is to balance the chocolate, the egg whites, and the heavy cream.
The recipe is:
Chocolate Mousse
8 oz semi sweet chocolate
4 Tbl unsalted butter
1 tsp vanilla
4 lg eggs separated
1/2 tsp cream of tarter
2 Tbl sugar
3/4 cup heavy cream
Melt chocolate & butter in double boiler.
Stir in salt and vanilla.
Whisk in yolks one at a time.
Cool 5 minutes.
Beat egg whites with cream of tarter until soft peaks began to form. Add sugar and beat until firm.
Whisk 1/4 in chocolate. Fold in the rest.
Whip cream until firm. Fold in chocolate.
Refrigerate at least two hours to let flavor set.
Top with whip cream

The classic cookbook
If you can find The classic cook book by Chistopher Kimball, Buy it! Tho one that has The Cooks Bible & The Dessert Bible. Excellent teaching book.
The chocolate mousse I made today to die for.
Back to the book. This isn't just a collection of recipes. This is a how to. He gives instructions on how to put it together as well as what works, what doesn't work & why it doesn't work.
If you saw the movie Julie and Juliette, you know there is a part where the author of The Joy of Cooking admitted that she didn't test her recipes. I might as well throw that book away since I don't trust it anymore. Not that I need to ever skin a rabbit anyway.
Christopher, on the other hand, shares his test results. For example under asparagus, he tested five methods of preparation: steaming, braising, grilling, and stir-frying.
I just love this book. I do wish it was available on the Kindle because it is a huge book. Almost 800 pages. I just can't believe it is out of print. I've never seen a better teaching reference book.

Sore calves
August 2, 2010
Very surprised that the back of my calves are quite sore and tight. I will not run, but will walk for the 30 minutes later tonight.
And now it is night. I realize that my calves are so sore because of the barefoot running. I run on the front of the foot. Tonight I walked the treadmill for 25 minutes at 3.0 speed. Ran a minute at 4.0 just to stretch out the muscles. Mental argumentative every minute. The nagging pleading voice that reminded me that the training program only calls for 20 minutes. Yeah and after 20, it's only 10 more. I did the 1.5 miles in 30 minutes. My usual. Legs are now all a tingley. My reward is strawberries on angel food cake. Yumm

Exercise Training Log
The goal is strength building, endurance, and stamina.
August 1, 2010
Well, well, well or as my mother would say, "A well is a hole in the ground. What does that have to do with anything?" Not a darn thing, Mom!
Turns out first training attempt was total fail. I got discouraged, bored, and apathy set in. Boo hoo. Call the wwaambulance. Then I painted the bedroom. It's a nice size. Turned out real nice with the fresh paint on the trim and all. I didn't think much of it till my body turned on me. I was sore for the next three days. That sucked. Not how I planned to spend my vacation. Although doing a bunch of nothing was nice too.
So I ask my self why the discouragement? Because I look at people and I believe it's all genetics as to whether or not you have a large butt and how it's all situated. I know people who are active physically. Hard active and yet they are still far from a willow reed.
I need to give up the myth that I can be what I was. It's not going to happen. I got old. Thats a good thing but it's something I need to accept. My goal is not a firm ass or flat stomach. The goal is strength building, endurance, and stamina.
So today we begin again. 1.5 miles on the treadmill 28.30 minutes. I need to double my time for the 5k in November. Steve reminded me not to over do it the first day.
I've got a lot of cooking to do today so I didn't walk the 3 miles. Training program says 20 minutes the first day. I should do this smart and listen. Let's hope the knee doesn't blow out.
