Accepting submissions for podcasts

If you've been using the daily writing prompts, chances are you've come up with a good story. That's great, but what are you going to do with it? Are  you going to throw it in a drawer and forget about it? Do you have other stories you've written hidden away in drawers?

I'm looking for short stories (approximately 2,000 words) in the genres of horror, science fiction, urban fantasy, steampunk, or paranormal. Creep factor is a plus.

Submit your story using Google Docs and send invite to atticghostpodcast@gmail.com.

Payment $20 via Paypal upon acceptance to broadcast. You give permission for your story to be narrated for The Attic Ghost podcast. You give permission for story to edited as necessary. You retain all rights.

Episode 3 Podcast is uploaded

It's Saturday and that means a new episode of Spooky Tales. This week's story is Rejuvenation. What or Who would you sacrifice to get what you wanted?

Practice makes perfect. I'm excited as each episode is ever so much better than the previous. I'm working out those glitches.

Do you have a tale you'd like to submit for the podcast? Say yes. I need stories. Click on the podcast submission tab at the top of the page.

Episode 2 The Attic Ghost Presents Spooky Tales

My second podcast is up and running. It is much better than episode 1 as far as my presenting goes. Don't judge. I'm learning. Episode 2 has music and background noise and I'm not as stiff. I can't wait to do episode 3. I think my only fault with episode 2 is I'm still talking too fast. What do you think?

The story in episode 2 is titled Hungry. It's about a young woman on a camping date that goes horribly wrong. I hope you enjoy and let me hear your comments. Where do you think I can improve with the podcast. Too much or too little?

Don't forget to do the writing prompt below this post. Hit the home tab on top if this is the only post you see.

Do you have a spine tingling tale? I would love to see it. Please hit the submission tab at the top of the page to get the details.
Thanks for reading. Happy Haunting.

Questions?

Congratulations to Robert Millet for his short story, Ormond's Emporium of Oddities. It was  published in the October issue of The Hour Glass magazine.

Accepting Submissions For Podcast

I am excited to have released my first spooky tales podcast. I've got a serious happy dance going on in celebration. Probably not something anyone wants to see as I have zero rhythm.

I'm happy about the podcast because a) I figured out the editing and what not. b) I got past my stage fright and c) I stopped farting around, faced my fears, and got it done.

I'm also happy because this new venue gives me an additional platform to promote authors and direct traffic to their websites or where they are selling their books. I love helping my fellow writers.

So, I'm hoping you guys are using the daily writing prompts and you should have some good ideas. What you most likely have is a good idea that you may or may not go back to. I'm asking you to go back to your prompt and finish what you started. I'm hoping you'll have a story that is 2,000 words (or less). Then I'm hoping you'll send me that short story... unless you are actually going to submit it to a magazine for publishing. I want the short story that you're just otherwise going to throw in a drawer and forget about it.

Don't be shy. Don't let the inner critic talk you out of it. Let's not play games. Submission is not an automatic acceptance. But you've got to give yourself a chance. I can't say yes if you never submit your story.

Check out the podcast tab at the top of the page for a quick listen to episode one. Don't judge me. It's my very first one and I've learned a lot in this process. The next one will be better. And you know it will be even better when it's showcasing your story.

Contest Entry Here

Win a $10 Amazon Gift Card by entering the Free Writing Prompt Contest.

Some contests expect you to jump through hoops to enter them. Like my page, follow me on twitter, share on social media, blah, blah, blah. I'm all for it if you want to share and follow, but I'm not going to demand you do it in order to enter. Let's keep it simple and to the point, shall we? It's all about the story telling.

The rules are simple:

  1. The writing prompt contest begins January 1, 2016. Last entry accepted is January 31, 2016 9:00 PM, Pacific time.
  2. Spend a minimum of ten minutes on the writing prompt listed for January 1, 2016. I don't care how much time you actually put into it. I'll take your word for it that it was at least ten minutes.
  3. The sentence listed below  must be somewhere in the story.
  4. You may change the word she to any pronoun of your choice.
  5. Share your story with me via google docs.  Invite me to review or comment by using the email writingpromptcontest@gmail.com
  6. Give one-time permission to publish your story on this website if (and only if) you are the winner. You retain all rights.
  7. You may submit multiple entries (different stories for the same writing prompt).
  8. The writing prompt contest begins January 1, 2016. Last entry accepted is January 31, 2016 9:00 PM, Pacific time.
  9. The prize is a ten dollar gift card from Amazon.
All entries will be reviewed. The winner  of the $10.00 Amazon gift card will be announced February 6, 2015. The winner's story will also be published on The Attic Ghost's blog.

Who are the judges?  Me, Myself, and I.  The story I find the most entertaining will be the winner.

And now... the contest writing prompt is....

She grasped a handful of hair.

Remember. The contest is for this writing prompt only. It must be in your story somewhere.

Have fun. Keep on Writing.
