Interview with Alison Brodie

Thank you  Alison for agreeing to the interview. As promised, it's a short one.

Thank you Abigail for inviting me onto your blog today.

When did you decide to start writing stories?

When I was about six or seven.  I remember the teacher brining the blank sheets of paper and jars of pencils out of the cupboard for drawing, and I would look at the blank page and yearn to write something on it.  I still feel that tingling, excited feeling whenever I see a blank page!

Why romance versus the other genres?

I write all genres: suspense, mystery, black comedy, drama, humour, crime, and for the first time a tiny bit of horror in my upcoming book, Zenka.

Who is your favorite character in Zenka and why?

I love Zenka because she is so stubborn, feisty and brave. She’s like a poodle who thinks she’s a Rottweiler.

What are your plans for the next writing project?
A book of short stories all set in the future.  I have written 12 so far and I LOVE writing short stories.

What question do you wish I had asked you and what is the answer to that question?

Alison, did you get many reviews from book bloggers for your last book, Brake Failure?

My answer:  I received 27 five-star reviews – ALL from professional reviewers/book bloggers.  I prefer to get reviews from strangers rather than friends and family.

Dogs or Cats?

Dogs.  I can’t have a cat cos hubby is allergic!

Thank you for inviting me onto your blog today, Abigail.  I just want to add something.

Today I have been listening to your Spooky Tales Podcast.  I really enjoyed “Mama’s Eyes” by Martin Reaves.  And you have the perfect voice for reading books aloud.

Your podcast has tempted me to go the same route!  I just have to figure out how to do it.  Maybe you could do a blog about it?

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed the podcast. There isn't enough information for a whole post. I simply used garage band and opened an account with spreaker.com

Ruthless, capricious, and loyal.
Zenka is a Hungarian pole-dancer with a dark past.
When cranky London mob boss, Jack Murray, saves her life she vows to become his guardian angel – whether he likes it or not.  Happily, she now has easy access to pistols and shotguns.
Jack learns he has a son, Nicholas, a male nurse with a heart of gold.  Problem is, Nicholas is a wimp.
Zenka takes charges.  Using her feminine wiles and gangland contacts, she aims to turn Nicholas into a son any self-respecting crime boss would be proud of.  And she succeeds!
Nicholas transforms from pussycat to mad dog, falls in love with Zenka, and finds out where the bodies are buried – because he buries them.  He’s learning fast that sometimes you have to kill, or be killed.
As his life becomes more terrifying, questions have to be asked:
How do you tell a crime boss you don’t want to be his son?
And is Zenka really who she says she is?
